My Favorite Part of the Wedding Day

2.4.2016

My favorite part of the wedding day is when the bride and groom first see each other. The groom standing, steadily waiting, trying not to fidget as his soul mate walks towards him. Imagining what the rest of their lives are going to look like together. Waking up next to each other, examining every feature of their face. There is so much emotion in this one short moment.

As I asked Mitch to stand patiently at the center of the walkway I can see all the excitement and emotion in his eyes. The familiar fidgeting and nervousness that overcame him as his bride Amelia, slowly walked towards him.

I always find myself caught up in all the emotion of these few quiet moments with the bride and groom. You can see it in both Mitch and Amelia’s eyes. The complete devotion and trust to one another, that they have picked the perfect partner to spend the rest of their lives with.

Great Neighbors are Priceless

12.13.2015

When you’ve lived in 6 different states in the last 11 years you get really good at picking out the best neighborhoods to live in. You research all over the internet trying to find your next home, making sure you are zoned for the best schools for your little ones, crime rate in the area is low, the commute for the hubby isn’t horrible and of course a home close enough to Starbucks and Target so that a late night trip doesn’t feel like a journey. One thing I’ve found, that is something you can’t control until you’ve already purchased and committed yourself to your new home and neighborhood, are your neighbors. The value of having great neighbors in a neighborhood you’re in love with is priceless.

The Bickles are one of those wonderful neighbors that you just can’t ask for more. They welcomed us with open arms when we first moved in to our home in Warner Robins, GA and through the past year have become dear family friends. Having a passion for all things music myself, I love her son’s passion for music. I am always fond to hear him practice as I sit and watch my own littles playing outside.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

5.28.2015

I recently had the privilege of photographing Mr. and Mrs. Wilson as they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at the Courtyard Marriott in Warner Robins, GA. I must have cried about 3 times that day!

To be there with them and experience the day unfold as I documented it for them was so special to me. The day was filled with so much love, respect and admiration from so many people through out the world whose lives they have touched. They have inspired so many throughout their journey together and I want them to know how much their love for each other has moved me. Spending the day with them has only confirmed that nothing would be worth having if I do not have my beloved to share it all with.

Thank you so much for letting me experience and be part of your special day.

Not only was the day amazing, they introduced me to a beautiful love song that I just can’t stop listening too!

Jay Jackson – Motivational Speaker

4.1.2015

One of the first things I did when moving to Warner Robins, GA, was join the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce. Getting involved with the community through the Chamber has helped make Warner Robins feel like home in no time. My favorite part of the Chamber is getting to meet so many business owners and entrepreneurs that are excited about the community and want to see it grow.

I recently had the pleasure to create some wonderful portraits for Mr. Jay Jackson, fellow chamber member and host to the popular blog talk radio show, The Transformation Hour. His show is designed to help us all connect so that individuals, businesses, and communities can develop, transform, and fly! To learn more about Mr. Jay Jackson visit his website here.

Finding Beauty in Your Own Backyard

1.18.2015

When I first mentioned to Noe that we should have the photography session in his Fort Valley home he was a little reluctant. He wondered if it would be a good setting and I told him what better way to tell your family’s story then in your own backyard and when I arrived at his home later that week I knew we were exactly where we were supposed to be. Instantly I felt the pride that everyone in the family carried for their home. They were so excited to show me around and to show me the extended part of their home that they had all been building together!

At the reveal, Noe, looked at me and said “Is this really my house? Wow!” … and I smiled and said, “Yup, this is your house. :)”

Turning Pages

11.26.2014

I am the queen of over thinking and over analyzing and making sure I have read every article on the next major life event I am expecting in my life and time and time again life keeps taking all my research, neatly piled and organized, and throwing them up in the air while I sit on the ground trying to catch them all.

Recent events and loses in my life have showed me that life is just too short to spend time preparing for life. There is no preparing and organizing for life, one just has to LIVE it. We cannot go through life perfectly, only uniquely. To cherish life as it is now because life continues to turn its pages on to the next chapter whether we want to or not. Pushing us forward when sometimes all we want to do is go back.

In the last few months the Air Force has decided it was time to start a new chapter in Warner Robins, Georgia. As much as everything inside me would like nothing more then to stop and even sometimes rewind time, I am choosing to embrace it. I am ready to live our lives at its fullest, to cherish it exactly as it is now, slowly letting go of my tendency to want to over prepare for what might come next.

Instead enjoying how my youngest daughter can sit in her room all day, having a dialogue with herself and her dolls, and how my son, at the age of 7, still finds true joy in a pile of dirt and a shovel in his hand. These moments are what I am always most thankful for. Stop and take a moment and enjoy the every day moments of your authentic life. Cherish what is in front of you rather then worrying about what happened yesterday or what’s going to happen tomorrow. Celebrate the unconditional true love of your spouse, children and loved ones around you.

Being it All

6.3.2014

When I met Jean, her husband had recently departed for a 15 month deployment. When your husband deploys you go into Super Woman She-Ra Mode. There is nothing you can’t handle and nothing that will keep you down. We spent many play dates for our children together and soon she and I were inseparable friends as well.

I love her devotion to her husband and her daughter. During his deployment she had a beautiful balance of moving life forward with her daughter and still choosing to stop all that she had going on to devote time to her husband during their Skype dates from thousands of miles away. My favorite part about her is her sugar and spice personality. From being obsessed with makeup and constantly giving me private makeup lessons to being able change the oil and work on her husband’s Honda CRV Sugar while he was gone.

I have been extremely lucky to have met Jean at the beginning of our tour here in beautiful Hawaii. I can’t believe how fast 3 years goes by. She has become one of my dearest friends and I know that even after we leave here she and I will share many FaceTime dates together and even find a time to meet up at our home state of Cali.

Mastering the Fear

4.15.2014

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear

– not absence of fear.”

-Mark Twain

A couple months ago my husband and I went to Maui to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. One of my most favorite things we did while we were there was the scenic drive to the Haleakala Summit. Haleakala is a 1.1 million year old volcano that forms 75% of Maui and has an elevation of 10,023 ft. Usually, I am not afraid of heights at all, but on this particular drive my fears got the best of me.

After an hour of switch backs and blind curves, and literally driving through clouds, my nerves were at their peak. My heart was racing as if I’d just finished a 5K. My sweaty palms were clenched so tightly to the door handle that my husband kept looking at me, asking if I was ok and if I wanted to stop and turn back. Once we got to the national park gate, I thought to myself “Yes, OMG I did it” … then the gate guard turns to us and says, “Ok you’ve got about another 30 minutes more to go.”

I thought I was going to burst into tears.

My husband looked over at me and said, “We don’t have to go if you don’t want to. We can stop right here, take a break and turn back.”

I looked at him and sighed, “No, we need to keep going.”

Even though every part of me just wanted to close my eyes and wish us back down at sea level.  He held my sweaty palms in his, looked at me and said, “I won’t let anything happen to us.” and we drove forward … and of course the switch backs, got more frequent, the blind curves were more blind, the guard rails that reminded you were the edge of the road was, disappeared leaving no barrier between you and the clouds.

When we finally reached the summit, my wobbly knees were more then happy to feel solid ground and we walked over to where all the other bystanders were and saw a thin layer of fog, and wondered what everyone was looking it. Then, like a dreamy fog lifting from a sleepy forest, the clouds disappeared and revealed the most amazing thing I’ve seen in my life. It was like looking at a different planet!

I realized right there that it was all worth it. Honestly, my anxiety and having to work through it during the drive, made that view even more special to me. Some times it’s the things that we work hardest at that are the most rewarding. So the next time you are scared to move forward and to jump into your next adventure remember to master your fear and get out of your own way. It’s when we believe in ourselves and in our abilities that we can conquer anything.

An Intimate Beach Ceremony

4.9.2014

Albert and Carolyn have been a couple for many years and when it was finally time to say their I Do’s, they decided to leave the frigid Pennsylvania winter to have an intimate ceremony on the beaches of Waikiki.

In the afternoon we spent together, it was clear how much these two loved each other. Albert couldn’t help but grin each time his eyes met Carolyn’s. It was a short and sweet ceremony, with a handful of loved ones witnessing the beginning of a new chapter of their fairy tale and the love that radiated between the two of them, could span the entire Hawaiian Islands.

My Journey Begins Today

2.11.2014

When you’ve been married for 10 years, it’s safe to say that my husband and I know each other pretty well. It was him who knew before I did how much I REALLY love being an entrepreneur, and it was under his encouragement that I attend a business workshop in Colorado. A unique type of workshop with a unique name, Fight Club, with a goal of teaching you how to work Happily Ever After (and when the words Happily Ever After are involved I’m immediately drawn).

I was reluctant at first. Attending the workshop meant it would be the first time I would not be sleeping under the same roof with my 6 and 3 year old. I sat in the airport terminal on FaceTime with tears in my eyes, wondering how I could possibly get on that plane and miss the next 4 days of their little lives.

The plane started to board and with a heavy heart, and a tiny bit of courage, I got off the phone and boarded the plane. I arrived in Denver with butterflies in my stomach. I believed I was there to learn how to work happily ever after, so when Jeff Jochum  asked the 7 of us workshop attendees to define ourselves (not our roles) in 3 words, not our business, … ourselves, I was dumbfounded.  How was this suppose to help me work happily ever after?

Our final task of the three day workshop was to broadcast live via the internet, and tell all of our peers who we were and what we stood for. Was I ready? NO! We went into rehearsals and while the others went before me, I sat and stared at the pages of my notebook, trying to piece the things I had written and put it all together for a one minute presentation …  LIVE! … Then, I saw it. It was staring at me the whole time. My own words, scribbled then crossed off, and rewritten again …

I AM  Romantic.

 I AM  Intimate.

I AM Courageous.

I believe in  Writing My Own Fairy Tales.

It took 3 more months of prying with Jeff and my mentor Sarah to truly find myself and to understand why I do the things I do. Why I love the things I love. Why my business is important. Why it matters. Why I matter. It all came together. My Who and my Why. I CELEBRATE DEVOTION TO TRUE LOVE and I want to celebrate it with couples who believe in writing their own fairy tales.

My Journey Begins Today
